we can talk about pride
we can talk about envy
we can talk about sloth
we can talk about anger
we can talk about greed
we can talk about gluttony

But lust? …shhhhhh!
:banghead:

sigh

I find it immensely frustrating that all the insight on the topics of masturbation (as well as the “delete kinky threads” thread) has been lost. Like dust in the wind, spiritual wisdom, erased. Sad.

Is there anyway the forums can create a board to help adults with adult problems. Like I said, it is uncharitable to not provide solidarity and support to people who struggle with sexual issues. (Personally, I think the teens should be allowed to enter into the discussion as well because Planned Parenthood sure does like to talk to them, but it’s not my forum. Maybe there should be a forum for that as well.)

Anyway, this is frustrating. I like these forums, but is there no way to minister to the slaves of the flesh?

yeah but not just an adult forum, it should be accesible to everyone, but they should be warned. it should be titled the sexually explicit forum.

The Saint Mike’s site, does allow for questions about sexual topics. They have a symbol on the thread title alerting others to the topic. That way, people can choose to read it or not.

I have an incredible sympathy to those in bondage to ANY sin, lust especially, because it seems to be of particular importance in today’s times.

I am sorry for those who are sincerely struggling with this issue. Please feel free to PM me, if in need of a sounding board, prayers, or words of encouragement from the perspective of someone who, in Christ, has been victorious over this and other addictions.

God bless all of you and remember, not only did Christ come to atone for our sins, but to lead us to VICTORY over them.

Remember, though your cries may be stifled on this forum, God has already provided a way for YOU. DO NOT GIVE UP!

I will be praying for you!!

Nice post, Ana. 🙂

Although we haven’t been completely stifled, have we?
An actual lot has been said… before it goes away…

I think those who have read and posted have benefited.
Of course, if the threads have truly disappeared, then someone new who wants to talk about these topics won’t be able to access them in a Search-- and will start the topic all over again. The Moderators seem to be unwittingly setting up a Catch-22 situation?

Sweetchuck, I can relate to your frustration… but in all honesty-- don’t you think we could manage to talk about this stuff in a way that is somewhat less explicit? I dunno, I thought that last thread went well… Maybe posters will eventually arrive at a way to talk about this stuff in a way that will still safeguard the innocent.

[forgive the slight off-topic detour Sweetchuck-- but I just have to mention to Ana-- I love your signature quote :yup: It’s so true! And sadly I think the opposite is true, too ]

Peace.

I don’t like that idea. Not only do I want us here to be proud to be Roman Catholic and Christian, but I want us to be proud to be Pro-Children!!!

I would like to hear from some parents on what they think or would think about their children being on this site with some of the threads concerning sin of a sexual nature.

I tell you what-- I have a hard time reading about some of the news items (so much of it just breaks my heart), and alway scan the thread before I actually open it and start reading… Ok, so now i’m a geek, a sap **and **a wimp…:crying:

Thanks for the kudos on the quote. I found it recently and knew I had to use it.

As for the explicit nature: I have not seen ANYTHING explicit. Moreover, even if it does have some degree of explicity, EVERYTHING posted here is certainly less explicit than what kids are exposed to at school, during primetime TV, and among their peers. Now, I suppose parents who homeschool, don’t let their kids watch TV and don’t let them have friends may be bothered by these threads. But society is out to educate children about sex.

Now tell me this:

Is it better to have someone educate your child who says to your child:
“There are 5 types of sexuality (hetero-, homo-, bi-, trans- and a-) and all are equal morally. Which one are you?” ?

Or is it better to have someone educate your child who says:
“God has created this wonderful gift of sexuality and has designed it to operate in a certain way, and it is governed at all times by moral and natural law, regardless of what culture says.” ?

Who would you choose? None of the above is not an appropriate answer. Because teens WILL learn about sexuality. It’s kind of biologically forced upon them. That first explanation is likely to take hold. Mothers, fathers, talk to your kids before Planned Parenthood does! Do it for their souls. PPFA cares nothing for their souls. They see your children as potential future clients. And they have certainly “educated” some of your children’s peers. In this case, a child’s ignorance on this topic is NOT bliss.

Even though the topic of masturbation has been beaten to death here…(no pun intended… 😛 ) it hasnt been more so than any other topic that occasionally comes up and gets beaten to death as well…its just that some here cant deal with the fact they are sexual as well as spiritual beings and would rather have sex related threads kept lower than other topics that beat the proverbial horse to death as well. Heres the perspective I have taken on masturbation… its something I must deal with every now and then…I do not: Do drugs, have sex (I am divorced…and am not seeking a relationship as of now) I dont steal, I dont rape, I dont murder and fi every now and then my urges get the best of me… and quite honestly I fight them off but sometimes I simply WANT to give in…I am still young and male and thats the way it is…its called outside stimula coupled with the hormone known as Testosterone. I wear medals and though they dont prevent me from falling, they DO I believe assist me in getting back up and staying pure for xyz amount of time…so guys, dont think just cause ya fall your medals aint working…for some they do work like this along with prayer…in that they PREVENT you falling period…for others…they assist in coming back and seeking confession and trying again… I find it hypocritical to say the Act of Contrition by using the words, “and to NEVER sin again”…we DO sin again and again and again…no matter what it is…I say…and to not sin again to the best of my ability, and the Father said that was fine as long as its with Gods grace… cause quite frankly I started feeling like a hypocrite in saying NEVER AGAIN…when I know I will eventually fall again… I aint a monk, I live IN the world while trying to not be swayed by it…but I no longer have the so called Catholic guilt and feel dirty and ashamed…I dont mean to say I feel proud…I dont…I just accept it when I fall, go to confession and move on…btw…it feels much better when being in a state of grace so I dont wanna be accused of being glib in my position on how I have come to deal with this issue. We all sin…there are varying degrees of sin and I look at it as, yes I could be doing better, but I could also have much more deeper sins to deal with, so I dont have it that bad after all. 😉

Like Ana, I throw my hat in the ring and would like to be ‘an ear’ for someone to talk to.
if any of you have read my posts on my personal struggles and victories on ‘personal sexual issues’ then my testimony is a witness for leading a more pure life. (Unless those very old threads have been deleted).

Yet, why do you think there is a Private Message option given…maybe for…personal issues?

Recently, a teen male wrote me and sought me out for advice. I felt God lead him to me and pray for this young man every day.

I am thankful for the Forums, and hope that ‘sensitive’ issues do not go away from here totally. These issues are very important to tackle, and so is which foot do you put down after you get out of bed. 😉

Go with God!

That’s true, although to have something just “erased” for some reason makes me feel wierd. I go back to look for it and it’s gone … without a trace … as if it never existed.

I agree. I’m glad I’m not a mod. They have thier jobs cut out for them, especially on a topic like this, where there are so many things to consider.

I think when talking about this topic, it is EXTREMELY important, out of charity, to use prudence and a certain decorum. Those that don’t, ruin it for those who are sincere.

It’s from that story in Scripture when Christ defended Mary Magdalane after she wept at His feet. Mary Magdalane is my Patron Saint (hope for the bad girls:yup: ).

That was a very judgemental statement to make. I homeschool and I am not bothered by these threads. What does one thing have to do with another?

Not all homeschoolers “don’t allow their children to watch TV”, and I know of parent’s who send thier kids to school and don’t let them watch TV. Madonna is one, and not for religious reasons I’m assuming.

I don’t know ANY homeschoolers who don’t allow their children to have friends.

This statement was at best ignorant and at worst mean.😦

I am very proud to be Pro-Children, but does that mean I am never to discuss things I wouldn’t feel comfortable discussing in front of my five year old?
shannon e:

I do share with my children SOME things from this site, but I would not allow them unlimited access. They are still very young, and still learning about their Faith. Still a little wet behind the ears.

When they are older, and properly catechized, I have no problem with them spending time here. At least I have the consolation of knowing the Catholic position will always be presented, even if other opinions are represented also. As opposed to a singular secular coverage of a particular issue…

I think this site is teen friendly, even with the threads dealing with … shhhhhhhhhhhhh … masturbation.

me too … some of it, like that thread dealing with Kinsey makes me feel ill with grief. Those poor precious children:crying: I don’t read it … I just can’t… Lord have mercy on us.

Ana,

I understand you, but I think you misunderstood the comment…

I think it was meant to state that if a parent did all 3 of those things (homeschooled, no TV, and no friends) ***then ***they may have a problem with this topic…

I didn’t see it as aimed at people who homeschool their children.

I couldn’t agree more.

It’s such a pickle. I want us to be able to post about such devastating sins, but if we push the Mods too hard, or in the wrong way-- it will end up hurting our cause.

Well, eventually the chips will fall as they may.

Peace to you!

that’s exactly what I was saying. Thanks for correctly interpreting my confounding statement. I was talking about the parents who would try to keep their children away from temptation altogether. I wasn’t at all saying that “this is what homeschoolers” do. I have much respect for homeschoolers. I was just acknowledging that some people go off the deep end.

Apology accepted, Ana.

No problem Sweetchuck and Ana:)

I could see that Ana was really upset over what she perceived the post to be about and I just didn’t like the thought of her being that upset over what I hoped was just a misunderstanding…

glad I could help:)

oops! just realized I posted that last comment under my husband’s name… well, this one too I suppose, lol. Sorry for the confusion:o
