Cardinal Hoyos will be celebrating Pontifical High Mass at the throne, in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, in Westminster Cathedral in London on Saturday 14th June 2008 at 2pm.

As befits a Prince of the Church, Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos will be welcomed at the Cathedral west door in full cappa magna before processing to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel to pray; he will then vest in the sanctuary whilst the Cathedral choir sings. Pontifical High Mass will then be celebrated at the High Altar with all the breathtaking ceremony and music integral to the Traditional Rite. Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos will also preach.

Julian Chadwick, Chairman of the LMS, said, “This is the highlight of the LMS’s 43 years of struggle on behalf of the Traditional Latin Rite. It will be the first time since the liturgical changes of 1969 that a Cardinal will have celebrated the Extraordinary Form in Westminster Cathedral." This will also be the first time that Pontifical High Mass at the throne (the non-Papal liturgy in its grandest form) has taken place in England since the 1960s. It will be an historic occasion. See: Latin Mass Society Website.

Tell as many people and bring as many people as you can!

I love Springtime !

Thanks for posting this 🙂

:extrahappy:

God Bless Benedict XVI and Cardinal Hoyos !

PS - Note in particular:

Full cappa magna.

The Roman liturgy in its **most glorious and triumphalist form **outside of the Papal liturgy.

Pontifical High Mass from the throne does not happen often at all- especially not with a Cardinal in such a magnificent cathedral. Perhaps I shall swim the pond for this 😃
