Don’t be silly. Not a debate between us. Rather a debate with non-Catholics.

I stumbled upon a “Christian” forum and found a thread asking, “Where are all the miracles?” So, of course, I responded about the miracle we witness every Sunday, or any time that we attend Mass. Well, you can imagine how that went over. Only one response so far, but I think it could go on and on.

I don’t know how CAF feels about posting links to other “forum” websites. So if you’d like to back me up over there, just ask and I’ll message you the link.

BTW, mods, if this is the wrong forum for this topic, please move it.

Could be interesting. I’ve been kinda looking for someone to join me on an atheist forum doing the same kinda thing.

I would love to do that. It really strengthens my faith to debate in thiese things, becasue then I go and lokk at scripture, teaching, catechism etc to strengthen my argument, and in the process I learn a ton.

“Where are all the miracles?”

Was the question targeted to Catholics in particular? If that’s the case, we have some of the most phenomonal miracles of any Christian group. This is a topic that fascinates me.

This whole idea troubles me, for I feel on some threads here on CAF, that non-Catholics do the same thing you are proposing and they hijack the threads and turn the discussions into hate-a-thons. You’ll notice newly joined forum members, that come after posters with very mean streaks. Kind makes me think, “do onto to others as you would have them do onto to you”. If you do it within this forum it is called swarming I think, very uncharitable.:dts: :twocents:

Its not on this forum, and I don’t understand what’s wrong with fellow Catholics backing me up on a Christian forum against an atheist.

Because that is what it will look like to the athiest, you weren’t able to defend your faith by yourself, so you had to bring the “boys” in for back up. I don’t see how you are going to win the athiest over to Christ with “gang” mentality or actions. That is just the way I see it. -

I can appreciate your point of view, BennieP. I certainly do not like to be bullied either.

But maybe another Catholic poster would have something to contribute that I wouldn’t think to say. But I will admit that I can’t necessarily guarantee another Catholic poster to be as non-condemning, non-critical and non-abusive as I have been. This has occurred to me, other than right now, which is why I haven’t provided the link.

So in a way, maybe you’ve won the argument. But, if I could guarantee the other Catholic poster would be as congenial as I am, what would you think then?

You have to follow your heart.

In the sticky at the top of the forum is a post listing Banned Topics. One of those, #16, is: Encouraging “swarming” of other forums to engage in debate of anti-Catholic postings there.

Bennie P. -
You are correct to be wary of Magnum’s ‘invitation’ to join him at another site to defend the faith because it does have the ‘air’ of swarming.

However, therein lies the distinction:

Magnum is not putting forth a ‘swarming’ call and he, correctly, did not post the link to the site. He invited others to contact him should they be interested in helping him, thus he is not in strict violation of the ban.

However, Magnum V8, keep in mind that CAF has its reasons for not encouraging members to visit anti-Catholic sites. Doing so can lead the faithful astray, results in more ‘hits’ for the site thus increasing its popularity, and puts the reputation of Catholicism and this board at risk if any of our members loses their temper there and responds uncharitably.

If you have a particular post from that other site with which you would appreciate help from members here on how you can best respond it might be best for you to pose that particular question rather than invite others to meet you over ‘there’.

Hope that helps.

Angela Tate,

I can appreciate everything you’ve pointed out, particularly the threat of other Catholic posters being non-charitable, which, as you noted, is the primary reason for not posting the link, or even handing it out through private messages.

The only thing I will take issue with is your assessment that the faithful could be lead astray. I’m not necessarily doubting you, but do you have any evidence of that?

Mods,

I’ve been shown the error of my ways. I don’t see any point to keeping this thread alive. If you feel the same, please remove it.

My apologies to all.

In a closing note, let me say that I’m still engaged in heavy debate in defense of our Faith on that site. Say a quick prayer for me, and my opposition.
