Hmm, can Bishop the make a provision?

Why are they allowed to celebrate it? The Bishop and the Pope are aware of them.
It appears that the bishop has allowed them to do so.

The Carmelite Rite rightly belongs to the O.Carm. but I do not think that we have made it an issue that they are doing so.

I believe that if it bothered us it would be stopped.

Would it be up to the O. Carm. to determine who uses the Carmelite Rite? Wasn’t it surrendered to Rome?

I’ve never seen the Carmelite Rite, I’m sure it would be quite impressive.

In the Instruction on the Application of the Apostolic Letter Summorum Pontificum it was returned
34. The use of the liturgical books proper to the Religious Orders which were in effect in 1962 is permitted.

In the United States there is one parish where the EF is regularly celebrated (a parish staffed by the Carmelites) that on occasion celebrates the Carmelite rite.

Ah, I see. Do you know where the parish is?

I am not sure if this is the parish which Br. David is referring to, but St. Joseph’s Church, in Troy, New York, uses the Carmelite Rite during its noon Mass on Mondays

On the other hand, *New Liturgical Movement *has a copy of an article which was published in the Carmelite Review. St. Joseph’s may have used the Carmelite Rite temporarily, so calling first might be a good idea if you are thinking of attending.
