There are two Carmelite monasteries on Mount Carmel in Israel – Stella Maris for the monks, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel for the nuns. The latter was founded by French-speaking nuns and the main language is French.

I was blessed to have visited there, except I mistook the cave of Elijah (St Elias as they call him) for his grave, forgetting that Scripture said he was assumed into Heaven.

The odd part is that the Bahai sect has a huge and beautiful terraced flower garden park on the same mountain, which anyone of any faith can visit (it’s associated with their temple but you dont go in the temple), but I hope one day it becomes Catholic.
