Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare to welcome your new little one. The following is a beautiful prayer given to me by my midwife a few kids ago, I just love it!

Labor Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for this new baby. Would You protect and nurture this baby and bring this pregnancy to full term. In labor, would You remove all fear and replace it with faith and expectation. Please give those supporting me the birth wisdom to take the best care of mother and baby. Please let this baby be born normal and whole, healthy and strong, and at home with no complications with baby or mother. Father, thank you for hearing my prayer, for I pray in the name of Him who is called Wonderful, counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Amen.

Father we thank you for your marvellous gift;
you have allowed us to share in your divine parenthood.
During this time of waiting,
we ask you to protect and nurture
these first mysterious stirrings of life.
May our child come safely into the light of the world
and to the new birth of baptism.

Mother of God,
we entrust our child to your loving heart.
Amen.

Prayer to Saint Anne

O Good Saint Anne,
who had the incomparable privilege of bringing into the world
Her who was to become the Mother of God,
I come to place myself
under your special care.

I confide myself to you,
together with the child I am carrying.
Thousands of children owe you,
Glorious Mother of Mary,
the life of the body and the grace of baptism.
Hence I wish, in my turn,
to place my whole confidence in you.
Make me keep in mind the precautions I need to take
so as not to endanger in any way the health,
good qualities or the eternal salvation
of the child whose very existence
God has placed in my care.

Obtain for me
the virtues you did teach Her who was to be the Mother of God,
so that I may afterwards
instil and develop them
in the heart of my child.

O Good Saint Anne,
protect me today and forever.
I know that you will not refuse your intercession
to a mother who invokes you with confidence.

Prayer for an Expectant Mother

All loving God,
you created the human family
as a reflection of your own divine life
so that your creation might share in your happiness.

Hear our prayer for your daughter
who awaits the birth of her child.
She has cooperated with you in giving life.
Assist her now as she prepares to give birth
to the child in her womb.
May Mary be her guide and support,
calming her fears and strengthening her love.

May your daughter be filled with your peace and blessing
so that she may bring her child into this world
safely and in good health to the praise and
glory of your name.
