I read somewhere that is is an Eastern tradition to keep a blessed icon with you as a powerful weapon against the devil. Is that accurate?

Yes, it’s true that carrying blessed icons is a tradition to battle evil forces…

However, whether it is ‘true’ that it actually helps is debatable

There is also a Russian billionaire that has a chapels worth of Eastern Orthodox items, he’s in a funny video on YouTube.

I wear a small icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (technically “the Virgin of the Passion”), a blessed Byzantine cross, Holy Face medal, the Miraculous Medal, St. Michael/Guardian Angel medal (front & back respectively) and a Benedictine cross which was blessed by a Benedictine priest with the traditional blessing and exorcism - and my insignia from retreat. Oops, I forgot - I also wear the Brown Scapular.

Your armed and ready for battle. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s ok. It’s not a big load if you saw me in person. (I don’t do selfies.)
