prayers, blessings and thanks for all catechists and may we all proclaim the Word of God in playing our part in the Life and Mission of the Church.
I suppose I should see this as an opportunity in my own parish that I might be called to help facilitate.I don’t know if we should be concerned, but as a catechist, it strengthens and renews my committment when I see my efforts being prayed for by the whole parish community on this day…
Neither did we.We didn’t have anything this year.
I hope you will. Sounds like God is already tugging at you. Answer Him! and I will pray for you too.I suppose I should see this as an opportunity in my own parish that I might be called to help facilitate.
it may be that, like this diocese, catechists have already met, or will shortly, together in a convocation and receive the commissioning directly from the bishop. or that they have been on a retreat all weekend, as some parishes do here, and have already been commissioned by the pastor during that time. While my parish did have a prayer for the catechists, there was no commissioning/blessing of them, which is one of the purposes of Catechetical Sunday (.usccbpublishing.org/client/client_pages/catsun.cfm)).
Should we be concerned that parishes are sending catechists out without such a commissioning/blessing from the community?
Maybe your catechists were commissioned during a Mass you didn’t attend. We didn’t have anything this year.
OR, like in my parish not ONE of the catechists came to Mass. (We only have one Mass at our church per weekend, so don’t suggest they went to another. Some may have, but it would be at another parish in another town if they did so.)it may be that, like this diocese, catechists have already met, or will shortly, together in a convocation and receive the commissioning directly from the bishop. or that they have been on a retreat all weekend, as some parishes do here, and have already been commissioned by the pastor during that time.
