I have asked our catechists to do this, and hope it helps yawls as well.
What was the best part of your past year as a catechist?
What was the worst part of your year as a catechist?
What went well in your own teaching?
What went well in your program and parish?
What was lacking in your own teaching?
What was lacking in what you expect and need from your DRE, your parish, your program?
What resolution will you make to improve your own teaching next year?
What will you ask your DRE and parish to provide or do for you to make next year better?
What steps have you taken or will you take for your own continuing faith formation in the coming year?
What should the DRE and parish provide for your spiritual and doctrinal formation that is lacking now?
What will you ask for in the way of material resources for next year?

Please pray and discern your commitment for next year.

God bless you all, you light up my life and will never know in this life the good you have done for your learners and their families.

This was a great way to help your catechists wind up the year puzzleannie. 'Cept I thought it was y’all. I learn sumthin new evry day.
What was the best part of your past year as a catechist?
That I was given the privilege, with the help of the Spirit, to help a few children better understand the faith, and to help bring them closer to Christ and the Church.
Gratitude and hugs from the kids.
What was the worst part of your year as a catechist?
Two things:
Feeling helpless about some of the parents (not taking the faith seriously, not bringing their children to RE class regularly, etc.)
The more demoralizing difficulty was dealing with the unfriendliness, unprofessionalism, and incompetence of the person in charge of the religious education program, and not being able to talk with anyone about the effect it had on me or the concerns I have for the children.
What went well in your own teaching?
This is a good question to dwell on! I think that those I taught, even the ones who didn’t seem to take the content seriously, knew that I loved and respected them unconditionally, which hopefully helped them to experience in a small way Christ’s unconditional love for them. I also think I did a good job helping them to experience prayer and make it a more important part of their routine.
What went well in your program and parish?
I don’t know. Catechists don’t compare notes. We go to our classrooms, teach, and leave. There is no opportunity to evaluate or to freely offer our feedback.
What was lacking in your own teaching?
Another good question to dwell on. Maybe not getting back to some subject matter I skipped teaching on because of lack of time. I have to spend some time praying and thinking about this question!
What was lacking in what you expect and need from your DRE, your parish, your program?
Too much to go into on a public forum.
What resolution will you make to improve your own teaching next year?
I need to think more on this one.
What will you ask your DRE and parish to provide or do for you to make next year better?
I don’t trust that any requests on my part would matter, so I’m not going to ask for anything.
What steps have you taken or will you take for your own continuing faith
formation in the coming year?
I continually read up on the faith and I pray.
What should the DRE and parish provide for your spiritual and doctrinal formation that is lacking now?
Great question. I need to think more on this one, though I have no expectations that my hopes and suggestions would matter.
What will you ask for in the way of material resources for next year?
We don’t get any.
Please pray and discern your commitment for next year.
I will.
God bless you all, you light up my life and will never know in this life the good you have done for your learners and their families.
God bless yawl too puzzleannie.
Thank you for sharing your list of questions.

well my spell check was no help

the one thing I have learned that has penetrated by hard head, as a DRE, is that regular evaluation is essential on all levels

pray for your DRE she sounds burned out
