Catholic Alverno College Under Fire for Linking Students to Pro-Abortion Groups

Milwaukee, WI (LifeNews.com) – Alverno College in Wisconsin is a Catholic school, but it is coming under fire for violating the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church and linking students to pro-abortion activist groups. The school has the motto to “change the world” but one organization wants it to change its policies promoting abortion.

Actually, pithy witticisms aside, I don’t see a problem here. I jumped over to the offending webpage (depts.alverno.edu/rcwg/resources.html), and all it is is a list of prominent womens’ groups representing every part of the ideological spectrum, from right to left, Catholic to anti-Catholic, good to evil. It is legitimate for a Catholic research center to provide information and links to such groups, since – obviously – a very large part of the research that they do is going to be about monstrous groups like EMILY’s List and the way they operate. Moreover, a lot of pretty excellent research data is housed under the auspices of some pretty evil groups, such as (for example) the Alan Guttmacher Institute, which promotes abortion but also has by far the best sex-activity, contraception, and abortion research on the market today.

I’m glad Alverno added the disclaimer saying these groups don’t reflect their views, but that seems good enough to me. I have no objections.
