Here’s a link to a great article from Young and Catholic that I believe wonderfully illustrates how the Catholic Church actually feels about homosexuals. If this has already been posted here, sorry, but I just came across it and felt like I needed to share it.

An excellent article apparently not comprehended by many of those posting comments. As a culture, we’ve lost the sense of humans being a union of body and soul and how each SAYS something about the totality of being human. Two men by their very nature are not able to enter into the sort of life giving love embrace that human sexuality was ordered towards. Having a hysterectomy (or other particular cause of infertility) does not alter the NATURE of a woman.

But I think there are pitfalls that the author fails to acknowledge in the Church. As part of fallen human nature, we tend to enjoy clucking at sins that are not appealing to US because they make us feel more virtuous than we are (well I may have that gluttony problem, but at least I’m not a sodomite…). I do think that we heterosexuals need to be more vigilant about keeping proper perspective on where this sin falls in relation to others. We may have bigger planks in our own eyes.

But then again, the publicly agressive stance on this particular issue where a concerted group is determined to cultually define an evil behavior as being a good behavior requires that we NOT just sit on our hands and let it happen. We have to stand up for what is true, but be prudent and humble in how we do it. After all, it’s not like we figured this all our on our own, is it?

This blog was posted somewhere else and misconstrued. The young man/blogger is practicing celibacy.

I also provide this link because it’s official – and it is not contrary to the young man’s blog either. It’s just that the blog got misunderstood as advocating for the homosexual lifestyle, which it does not.
