Hi everyone. I have seen a Catholic Answers Bible on various websites and am considering getting it. It was published in 2002. Does anyone know how good this Bible is? I also seen a new Catholic Answers Bible that was just published this April of 05. Does anyone know how good these are? Do they have Imprimaturs and Nihil Obstats?

I have a Catholic anwser Bible it has helped me countless times. II comes with questions most protastants ask, then a direct answer to it, with biblical reasons to why we believe that. I would definatly buy it again myself… As for this new Apl. 2005 eddition, I can’t say i’ve see it.

The Catholc Youth Bible (NRSV)can be an alternative. It has many explanations that helps to understand the text in a catholic way.

I like it, even if years have passed since I could call myself a youth!

What age group is the Catholic Youth Bible geared to? I am 22 years old so I’m not exactly a teen which it seems that most youth Bibles I’ve seen are geared to. I consider myself to be a “young adult”. 😉

While I can’t comment on the CA Bible, I’ve started reading the Ignatius Press - by Curtis Mitch and Scott Hahn - bible books, They are wonderful, and VERY orthodox. They also give some answers to Prots, but better than that they make sense of why the Old Testament was written, and in doing so they help to deepen your scriptural knowledge. Here’s a link to these books (they are only booklets because they haven’t finnished yet):

just scroll down to Curtis Mitch

Also, you would also do well to read some of the posts and develope your own “scriptural top 10”. Memorize 10 verses that support Catholic doctrine (i.e., Isiah 22:22/Matt 16:18, etc.). If you don’t know your scriptures, no Prot will listen to you. If you wind up expanding your top 10 to a top 40, you’ll do well to learn “Prot verses” (i.e., Eph 2:8, etc.) so that you can quote it to them, then explain what it really means and how it is ACTUALLY a VERY Catholic verse.

Good luck!!

Depends on what you are comfortable with. Although if possible, I would recommend reading multiple versions if you have the time. Here’s a good tract on versions of the Bible. Hope this helps. Thanks and God Bless.

I just read that the other day to be honest. 😉

If anyone has a Catholic Answers Bible (2002 or 2005 edition) please provide some information. I am especially looking for information on the 2005 edition since it just came out. 🙂

Actually, come to think of it, I’ll see if I can find the publisher’s site!

Well, the publisher’s site didn’t contain much information either. They said that there are 88 commonly asked questions in the Bible as opposed to 44 in the old one. I sent an e-mail asking for more information. I should get a reply within a week I would imagine. I’ll let you all know what I find out.
