Catholic Apologetics Magazines in Canada

Does anyone know how to get Catholic Apologetics magazines more readily in Canada. I have tried my local Catholic book stores and they don’t seem to carry any???

When I go to the websites to order different ones like “Envoy” or “The Rock”, I find that by the time I pay for the shipping to Canada and the exchange on the dollar I’m reaching $80 or $90 Canadian to receive it. This is beyond my financial reach. Does anyone have suggestions? Are there any mags produced and distributed right here in Canada?

I don’t know any in Canada but New Oxford Review is Catholic publication costs $29 per year. There are some apologetic articles in it.

Or suggest if you, your friends and members from your parish want to sign up for mags. Then maybe magazine publisher will accept bulk orders of 50 or 100 to be mailed at once then distribute to among who paid and signed up for it. (that way bulk is cheaper to mail than individual issue)

Patrick Madrid had a great suggestion in his book Search and Rescue: In pre-Vatican II days, children were encouraged to save some of their allowance to send to the missions for the baptism of pagan babies. As a modern equivalent, Madrid suggested setting aside a bank of some sort (e.g., empty Mason jar) and deposit in it one’s loose change at the end of the day. This “fund” can go to buy apologetic materials for yourself and loved ones. This way you could fund a year’s subscription to one of your favorite apologetics magazines for less than a dollar a day – which is the kind of change most people carry around in their pockets.

Patricia, I have the same problem. I subscribe to This Rock but it costs a lot of money in Australian dollars. I subscribe to Envoy online and it is much cheaper for an online subscription.

You could also try catholicinsight.com/online/index.shtml they produce a bi-monthly magazine which reports on issues and current events in the church as well as issues of an apologetical nature.
