Call me weird but I have an aversion to calling the bible “The Catholic Bible”. I believe the bible that Catholics use is THE bible and there are different forms of it, having different words that mean the same thing so as to help different people understand it in their own manner. Now ask me if there’s a JW bible, and a protestant bible etc LOL.
No offense intended and no that isn’t a belief that makes you weird.

We can agree there are many translations and different faiths and individual may disagree on which is most accurate.

So there isn’t an official translation but many different ones used?
Well, as I said, the official liturgical Bible for the United States is the New American Bible. I am not sure but I heard that the official Bible used by the Vatican is the Revised Standard Version.

A bit off topic but…

I don’t see how any Christian can be Pro abortion.

Hmm :hmmm: . . . would you concede that the “official” Bible of the Church is the New Vulgate?

They can’t, they pretend it’s ok so they can do whatever they want without considering what God says (through the Church, for a Catholic) about it . . .

Yes and no. There is no one “Catholic Version”, but the Church does mandate the use of a particular translation for a particular purpose.

The Vatican has decided that every country should use only one translation of the Bible in the mass, but left the bishops of each country responsible for deciding which translation to use. For instance, the bishops of the US have chosen the New American Bible (NAB) as the source of the scripture readings for the mass. In Canada they use the NRSV-CE. In the Caribbean it’s the RSV-2ndCE. I think it the rest of the English-speaking world they use the Jerusalem Bible.

The Catechism of the the Catholic Church uses the RSV and the NRSV when it quotes from the Bible.

On top of that, there are many different translations of the Bible that are not used in mass but that have been approved for personal study. In addition to those mentioned above there are the Douay-Rheims, Confraternity Bible, Knox Bible, New Jerusalem Bible, Christian Community Bible, etc.

There are also many Catholic editions approved for personal study of popular or Protestant Bibles such as the Living Bible, RSV, and NRSV (already mentioned above).

There is no Catholic edition for the NIV, ESV, KJV, NASB, NLV, TNIV, etc.

Cheers.

Is this the correct verse of the catholic bible 2nd Corrinthians 12:2

2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago – still in the body? I do not know; or out of the body? I do not know: God knows – was caught up right into the third heaven.
Welcome… since no one answered this for you I will.

Yes

From the Haydock commentary

Ver. 2. I know a man, &c. He speaks of himself, as it were of a third person. — Whether in the body, I know not. If St. Paul himself knew not, how can we pretend to decide, whether his soul was for some moments separated from his body, or in what manner he saw God. (Witham) — It appears that this took place about the period when the Holy Ghost commanded that he should be separated for the work whereunto he was called. (Acts xiii. 2.)
