I do a lot of reading, and seem to have a hard time finding good books. I wanted to get suggestions of great Catholic books, history, saints etc. God Bless, I am almost home.

I just received the book “What Happened At Vatican II” by John W. O’Malley in the mail yesterday. I’m really looking forward to reading it based on various reviews I’ve read and some recommendations by others. If you are into recent Church history maybe it would interest you as well.

I’m just getting through St. Augustine’s “City Of God”, very hard-core and requires a slow, thoughtful read, but again may be of interest.

Also for fiction try Michael O’Brian - I like him.
for more appologetics I likes the 12 Apostles, Theology of the Body for beginers, and Surprised by Truth. I really like Scott Hahn, but he can be a little over my head at times. I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch though:) I also like Steve Ray.

The Catholic lifetime reading plan by John A Hardon

Fr. John Hardon was one of the greatest Catholics in our lifetime. This book is his list of the greatest Catholic books written since the New Testament.
 
Sister Patricia Proctor has published five chicken-soup-for-the-soul types of books out that I would recommend.

If you are trying to grasp our beliefs about the Eucharist, try 201 Inspirational Stories of the Eucharist. Trouble with reconciliation? Try: 101 Inspirational Stories of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

She has also published 101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of the Rosary, 101 Inspirational Stories of the Priesthood, and 101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer.

All of the stories in her books are truly inspiring and showcase the beauty, truth, and miracles of our faith.
 
This is the most moving book I have ever read, and I can’t imagine finding one to surpass it. The perspective it gave me was invaluable, and I can’t even begin to say how blessed I felt after reading it.

I’ve suggested this book to so many people, and the ones who read it pass it on to others because it’s too awesome to keep to yourself. The ones who don’t read it are seriously missing out.
