Hi,

Can someone recommend a good Catholic book on Evangelicalism?

Um no since we’re too nice to them.

But Dave Armstrong’s Biblical Defense of Catholicism or his other books deals with evangelical biblical and historical interpretations, also Steve Ray’s conversion story Crossing the Tiber, or any of the conversion books (Surprised By Truth series) would deal with some evangelical objections.

Did you want something more systematic, like the Catholic version of Loraine Boettner’s Roman Catholicism or McCarthy’s Gospel According to Rome?

The best book dealing with differences is Roman Catholics and Evangelicals by evangelical apologists Geisler / MacKenzie.

And let’s not forget Catholicism and Fundamentalism The Attack on “Romanism” by "Bible Christians" written by Karl Keating. 🙂

One of my favorite books on this topic is Evangelical Is Not Enough, by Thomas Howard. It is a charitable and well-written (at times very humorous) book by a famous convert to Catholicism (his sister is Elizabeth Elliot, a renowned Evangelical speaker) that shows the areas in which Evangelicalism differs and is incomplete, compared to Catholicism. Howard actually wrote this book before his conversion.

This book has helped many people I know move, if not into all the way to Catholicism, at least away from Evangelicalism and into more liturgical, historical churches.

Yes, that would also be helpful. Are there Catholic versions of Loraine Boettner’s Roman Catholicism or McCarthy’s Gospel According to Rome?

Also, can you recommend some Catholic books on the 7 sacraments?

Be very careful of such books, especially since many of them are written by Marxists 😃

I will be writing on Evangelism of Muslims: A Christian Catholic Perspective. I will publish these on my web site when it is done. This work will be free.

It will be the Catholic version of Answering-Islam.
