Catholic book recommendations or a book about the life of a saint that has inspired you.

I think it depends on the teenager. Do they have a preference for a particular saint, or types of saints?
Male or female?
What are their interests? Might be good to pick a saint who shares their interests.
Where are they from, what is their background? They might be interested in a saint who shares their ancestry.

I did. I am new to this page and still figuring out how this all works. I just wasn’t sure if I had asked the right question under the right subject. Thank you

So I just completed a read of this Hunger Games novel by Suzanne Collins, who is a Catholic woman. I was wondering what other people think of her writing? She is heavily influenced by Enlightenment philosophers and the culture of the Ancient Roman Empire. Locke and Hobbes are quoted in the preface to this book, and most of the action takes place in the Capitol, with marked Roman influence. Every Capitol character has a Roman name, for example. I found the original trilogy fascinating for theme…

I see. Usually, we only start one thread with a particular subject. That way it is less confusing. You can always ask in the post that starts the thread for someone to put your thread in the right category.

Welcome to CAF. Please ask as many questions as you want!!!

Maybe a book on Carlo Acutis?

It is a very recent Blessed, who live in the 1990’s and early 2000’s and died at 15.

I don’t have an anglophone reference to offer, but i am currently reading one bio of him and I am very impressed…I would offer it to any catholic teenager around me.

That is the thing, she doesnt really have anyone in mind. My 18 year old niece mentions of wanting to grow spiritually. She mentioned she was interested in reading about life of saints her age. I remember in my younger teens, reading the life of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and St. Bernadette sparked that little light in me. I figured reading something that inspired her would be a good starting point. She loves animals and is leaning towards becoming a Vet or Chef. Very humble and gentle lady but needs moral guidance. With all the social media now a days she has a hard time deciphering between what is right and what society/social media/music says is right. She asked me to do the Fiat90 with her. She really wants to grow in her faith and find truth. She doesn’t say it but its my understanding from previous conversations.

If she wants to do Fiat 90, that’s pretty hardcore.

The World War II saints like St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Edith Stein are always interesting to read about because they lived through turbulent times.

You could also give her a book with a lot of different saints to read about, like Ann Ball’s “Modern Saints” and she could get to know more saints and find some that she liked.
