Do you know of a website to find easy books in Spanish related to Catholicism for learning Spanish? Books about saints would be nice but other kinds of books too at an easy reading level, maybe written for kids, but not necessarily.

Rosetta Stone was the best thing I ever had, pero yo no se cuanto dinero se cuesta porque mi trabajo at the time gave it to us for free. Plus, if it’s for kids, the technology is a good way to work them in, and the interactivity is perfect even for an adult. I speak as a public school teacher.
BTW, I’d like a real Spanish speaker to critique my grammar. Yo pienso es correcto but those blasted indirect objects always threw me!

… pero no sé cuánto cuesta. I think the interrogative “cuánto” with the accent on it is called for here, but don’t ask me to explain why.

Hello. I’m not familiar with this book. I should have mentioned that I’m most interested in Mexican Spanish (or do I call it Latin American Spanish?).

The story is set in a monastery. If it’s the specifically Catholic content you’re looking for, there can’t be much difference in the language at that level.
(or do I call it Latin American Spanish?).
The answer is “No”. There is no single “Latin American Spanish”. There are noticeable differences even between neighboring countries, such as Chile and Peru or Colombia and Venezuela.

maybe the poster, like me, does not know how to put the accent over the vowel. i have an accent on my keyboard, but if i backspace to include the accent, i erase the vowel.

Hi 7 Sorrows. The accents aren’t really all that important in everyday Spanish. I thought I’d mention it in this case only because @ascetic requested a Spanish speaker to “critique his grammar.” I wouldn’t have bothered with it otherwise.

i was hoping you would explain how to type the accent over a vowel is why i made that point.

Apologies for my mistake, 7 Sorrows. I type it out on Word and use “Insert Symbol”. Most of the fonts you’ll find on the dropdown thing include accented letters used in a variety of languages such as Swedish å, Danish ø, German ü, and even Polish ę.

My suggestion would be to look for children’s books in Spanish, there are many options on Amazon.

Also, even if it’s not Catholic, a good grammar book would be helpful. If I had not actually taken classes in college, I don’t think I ever would have understood when to use the subjunctive and when not to use it (it still sometimes trips me up!).

that is okay. I use my Kindle and smartphone, so I have to type without using accents. so you must use your computer.

Yes, I always use a computer. I don’t even own a smartphone!
