I’m not sure what category this topic belongs to, but I suppose “catholic living” is somehow appropriate.
I’m being confirmed with the OFS on June 3rd, which has got me thinking a bit about sister death. I want to purchase a Catholic cemetery plot, or at least begin making payments on one. I want to be sure I’m buried, not cremated, and in a Catholic cemetery with appropriate rites. I also want to make it easier on my loved ones by at least starting the purchase now. I’ll be 45 this Wednesday, and maybe I’ll live another 45 years or more, but none of us knows and I’d like to be prepared in that regard. The trouble is, when I do a web search for catholic cemeteries or burial plots, all I get are historic cemeteries and genealogy sites with grave site locations. I found one “broker” but they didn’t list whether any of the cemeteries were Catholic, and I felt a little uncomfortable with their page somehow (not sure what it was, but it was more than them being grave brokers.) Anyway, how do I find a Catholic cemetery? Is a plot going to cost me more than a new house? I don’t need anything fancy, just a hole in the ground and a simple pine box. I just don’t want to be cremated (it’s a personal choice, but one about which I feel strongly.)
