Are there any Catholic communes in the world? If so, where?

Are there any traditional Catholic groups like the fundamentalist Mormons or Amish?

Convents and monasteries? Or do you mean with families and children?

Never heard of one these days. In Medieval and Renaissance times there were; many were declared heretical, like the Brethren of the Common Life. I think.

I think the ‘plain Catholic’ lifestyle would be a rather atypical approach to Catholic living. That kind of rejection of modern technology does not seem to have any theological or ideological base in Catholic thought or practice.

However, if you are interested more in the communal living aspect, you might want to check out the Madonna House Aposolate. They have a big community in Combermere, Ontario in Canada. They are a Public Association of the Christian Faithful under the diocese of Pembroke.

They have a big farm, and grow a lot of their own food. You can visit there, to get a taste of communal living. I went for a week. It is worth exploring, and you will learn alot about yourself and communal living. You can come for a week, longer stays are decided on a weekly or monthly basis, after one year, you need to move on or start discerning to take their community promises. They are all single, and called to be so.

adding to the Madonna House post: their website says that visiting guests should be 19-35, but that is not correct; they do have many young people there, but older people can visit (and join) too.

Jumpfrog looks like you didn’t read the Plain Catholic website. They state specifically that they do use technology.
