Hi Everyone:
After being a long time subscriber to the CD I gave up a few years ago when they got a new editor. Remember Mario Cuomo on the cover? Anyway, I picked up the Sept. issue in church the other day and just browsed it. Looks like they have a new editor, lots more Catholic articles not contrary to church teaching, no advice by Fr. Andrew Greeley, etc.

Has anyone else noticed a difference?

Hmmm. I also stopped subscribing for the reasons you stated. So I haven’t seen any recent issues. Perhaps I’ll have to check it out.

Do they still have the conversion stories? Those and the “What Do You Want to Know About the Catholic Church?” articles used to be my favorites from way back when.

I’m thinking of submitting a Letter to the Editor but will check out a few more issues before I do.

I also quit receiving it for the same reasons. They had an article about Patricia Heaton in one issue, about how good a person she is and all that. When I read the part of the article where it stated she quit practicing the Catholic faith to become Methodist, or something, I lost it. Why can’t they have inspiring articles about Catholic people who still practice their faith?

I recently (and reluctantly) subscribed to it again and received my first issue yesterday. I am hoping it hs changed, but I will believe it when I see it. I always enjoyed the open door articles and some other regular features, but I was not impressed with it as a whole.

I first subscribed about 13 years ago and loved it. Great articles, funny jokes. Then I didn’t see one for a long time when I didn’t sub to anything. Started up again last year and really don’t care for it at all. They get their stories from some odd places - I mean, I can read secular stories in secular pubs (and do) but that’s not what I want from CD.
