Just when I though I had it, I read this article. The questions I thought I knew the answer to are in the below snippet of article:

Some things were definitely out. Vatican II seemingly had done away with Latin, kneeling, Marian devotion, Mass as a sacrifice, St. Christopher, limbo, guardian angels, and mortal sin, among other things. Purgatory and indulgences headed the list of embarrassing teachings that, in the ““spirit of Vatican II,”” would disappear in the 21st century, as would the male-only ordained priesthood.

I thought the Mass was a sacrifice, I love the Virgin Mother, I talk to my Angel as often as my Pentecostal trained mind allows me, mortal sin; then why am I waiting for a tribunal inquiry? When as a candidate am I suppose to know when a Catholic article is bunk or not? A little help please.
 
Please re-read the article carefully and completely, I think you have completely missed the point.
the writer of this article was describing his experience in Catholic school in elementary and teen years (which coincides with mine) and the poor teaching he received by being told “it is against Vatican 2”. Then he tells of his re-conversion and return to the Church during the 70s and 90s when the worst liturgical abuses and abyssmal catechisis were flourishing, all done in the name of “Vatican 2” which every dissenter used as an excuse to promulgate their own feel-good brand of religion.
He then goes on to call us to really read and study the Vatican 2 documents, to see how they were mis-applied, misunderstood and deliberately mis-used by those within the Church who had their own agendas to push, and wanted to justify their own sinful actions and inclinations. He calls on us to see the beauty and truth in those documents, and above all never, never to use the excuse “it is part of Vatican 2” to justify poor teaching and practice.

The things mentioned in the article are abominable misconceptions. Vatican II did not do away with Latin, which is still the language of the Church and liturgy. V2 did not do away with kneeling, or Marian devotion, or anything else. Some diabolical individuals are responsible for these heresies, not the Council.
 
Thanks for the replies. I have read some of the Vatican II articles and thought I knew better, but the fact that some of those abuses go on is very disturbing. I can see now the fact that the article is pointing to the Vatican II letters, but the reference seems vague if you’re not familiar with them. Thanks again, this is a wonderful spiritual trip I’m on, and praise be to God for it. Mike
