The Pope and his Authority over the Church
It’s clear to see that Peter was a special Apostle, otherwise Our Lord would have given the “keys to Heaven” to another Apostle – but no, He chose Peter, the Kepha! Our Lord also gave power to the other Apostles, but only Peter was given the keys.
To me, this shows Peter’s authority to rule the Church on earth, after Jesus’ ascension. This is one reason I believe the Pope to be the Vicar of Christ in the world. May I suggest you log on to www.catholic.com?
Look for Catholic Answers and also “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth”. Reading books such as “Catholicism and Life” and “Catholicism and Reason” by Rev. Edward Hayes, Monsignor Paul J. Hayes and James Drummey have helped me on my Christian journey explaining much about the faith.
