I am looking for an honest critic from those who know a bit about the Mormon faith. I have a page titled the “Apostacy” at my site.
It is a Mormon’s Prophets writing on the fall of what Christ established, the Catholic Church. Go to my main page at www.catholic-rcia.com then to the Utah Mission link, from there you will find 2 links to “Apostacy” I have added catholic links to give Catholic truth throughout this writing. Let me know if you think it has possibilities for Christ Hope in Utah.

Thanks

Are you in Utah? I’m in contact with a monastary in Salt Lake City, I’m discussing with them the possibility of becoming a nun. At first, I was a bit put off, ok a LOT put off, by the location. But, if that’s where God wants me, then I’ll go.

I’ll check out your site when I have a chance. I know a bit about the mormon faith, but probably not enough to help you out.

I’m decently familiar with Mormon theology. But what you are really asking about is the old concept of “great apostasy”. It wasn’t born with the mormons. I’ve heard fundementals use this too. There are two general theories:

-Sudden apostasy: Where soon after the last apostle died, error and heresy “jumped” into all of christendom and most of the truth was corrupted.
-Gradual apostasy: Where after the last apostle died, error and heresy “creeped” into all of christendom and most of the truth was corrupted. This one is harder to prove since you have to show piece by piece what is heresy and what is not.

Most people don’t know this, but technically, this argument is circular reasoning:

RCC= Roman Catholic Church
-X church is true (which means that the RCC is a false church since it doesn’t agree with the bible (it doesn’t agree with my interpretation))
-To prove this, we’ll read the bible to and interpret it with my church’s interpretation to show how it’s true.
-Oh but wait! That’s what you’re trying to prove (your premise): That you’re interpretation is true.

It’s too much for me to read the whole document since it’s really just a group of claims. You should take it one by one. I’ve scanned it and there are all kinds of fallacies in there.

If you have a particular question, ask away. A good book to read on this subject is “By What Authority” by Mark Shea. It’s addresses this subject.
