Appreciate the link. Was familiar with most of the commentators and have several of their books. But not THE MAGICIAN’S TWIN. Will order it tomorrow.

A very good video and observation.

Yes, I figured people would like that – needless to say, I don’t think it is only relevant to threads that are specifically about science.

Sometimes they go East too (thinking of Jaroslav Pelikan).
Along with Pelikan:

H. Tristam Engelhart
Albert Raboteau
Richard Swinburne
David Bentley Hart

There is a cool book called Turning East about philosophers who converted to Orthodoxy.

P.S. This may be a bit of a stretch, and if so I apologize, but that also seems like a good video for everyone to watch before our next discussion about the science of “number of denominations”. :hmmm:

I think many people know the more obvious answers so I will attempt to dig a little deeper.

Edith Stein
Hillaire Belloc

Both fairly well known but I think sometimes under-appreciated.

Michael Polanyi
GEM Anscombe
Marshall McLuhan

These three made their name in other fields (philosophy, media studies). Many outside the faith don’t know how religious these three were, and all brilliant thinkers as well.

Modern thinkers
Alisdair McIntyre
Ross Douthat

McIntyre is a Thomistic philosopher, whereas Douthat is a NYT columnist. I don’t always agree with Douthat, particularly on some political ideas, but he is a prominent intellectual defender of Catholicism and he is very good at providing nuanced explanations and defenses of our Church.
