Hello everyone!

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but here it goes!

My wife and I have recently discussing the possibility of doing some mission work throughout the world, whether it be in Africa, Asia, Latin America etc. We’ve been discerning and praying a lot about it and I have a lot of questions so I thought I might come here to ask them.

Some background info: We’re both in our early 30s, I’m a cradle Catholic and my wife converted in her early twenties. We have 2 children (7 and 16) and we’ve though a lot about potentially bringing them with us on mission…I currently work full-time to support the family and my wonderful wife works at home with our children and keeps us all in check 🙂

First and foremost we’d like to test the waters and see if this is truly what God is calling us to by joining an established mission society such as Renewal Ministries or the like and doing a 2 or 3 week mission somewhere.

So, all that being said. What resources do you know of that may be beneficial to us in journey? Specifically, what organizations do you know of that are looking for part-time or even better, full-time missionaries to help. I’ve been to the OneFamilyInMission.org site and got a little confused about what to look at, what to click on.

Also, if you have any personal experiences of international mission work, especially as a couple or with families we would LOVE to hear from you. We fully understand the road won’t be easy no matter what we decide, so keep us in your prayers and God bless.

Any advice, assistance or resources you can point us to will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

YWAM is interdenominattional- they do things all over the place. I suggest that you contact several different dioceses and religious communities and see if they know something. I know some religious communities accept lay people to help them with their work abroad.

Flames Ministries International…

A Catholic Church approved lay ministry. They have crusades in many different countries as well as missions and mission support in many countries. They might want you to have done their training course first. check them out. FMITV. I believe their head man Mr Eddie Russell is an actual living saint.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll definitely look into your suggestions. If anyone else knows of any organizations that I could/should contact/investigate, do let m eknow.

Thanks and God Bless

Christian

We are discerning the same call for our family. We are late 20’s/early 30’s with 3 kids so far. We are looking into this group fmcmissions.com/

I have a dear friend who knows several people who have gone on missions with them, and everyone has great things to say. They are approved by their bishop.

Our family would love to talk with you more as you pray about this. It’s nice to know others in a similar situation!

Check out this group: fmcmissions.com/
My family, (I am the eldest daughter of 10 kids) has been working with them for almost three years now. I’m willing to answer any questions you have about them. 🙂

EDIT: oops I didn’t see someone already posted the link.
