I’ve been thinking about giving my niece a subscription to a Catholic magazine, but I have not had any luck searching on line. My niece is 8 years old, and is an exceptionally gifted reader. She just made her 1st Holy Communion this year and is very interested in, and intrigued by, the Catholic faith. I’ve sent my sister and BIL (her Mom and Dad a subscription to This Rock, and now would like to send something just for my niece. Has anyone found a good, solid, Catholic magazine geared towards children or pre-teens? I’d appreciate any (name removed by moderator)ut.

Thanks!

How sweet of you! Try these sites and see if you like any of them:

myfriendmagazine.com/

youmagazine.com/

stjosephmessenger.com

And this is a distinctly Catholic videotape series that is pretty good. It kept my granddaughters’ attention almost as long as ::sigh:: Teen Titans:

I’d like to second My Friend as Chicago suburban friend suggested. It’s a wonderful magazine for kids. As to the others—wow thanks!!! I’m going to look into them.

You may want to consider looking into Catholic Kids Net (CKNet) or Kids for Jesus (K4J). They send an activity booklet, with Saints cards, and talk about a different virtue each month. It’s a wonderful program that may even have a club in your niece’s area. If there’s no club, the booklet and virtue mission can be completed at home—I give this to all nieces/nephews making First Communion. I’ll try to find the website and get back.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will check them all out today.
