You can evangelize by suggesting and sometimes giving Catholic books, DVDs, and other media to your public library. I gave the librarians a list of Catholic books which they then bought and included in the library. Six books from that list circulated as much as the 600 books in the church library. A hundred to one difference. I have written a collection of web pages on how to get the key Catholic classics into your public library. This is not about stuffing a lot of Catholic books into the public library. It is about helping the librarians learn which books are most important to us, which will help them know which books will circulate the most. High circulation is a major way that librarians measure their own success.

While it’s best if you can get the library to pay for Catholic stuff, you may have to donate a book or magazine subscription yourself.

I’m vexed that our library has Commonweal on the magazine rack, but not This Rock!
