Not a guy here, but just wondering what is the reason why there is a hierarchy in a marriage and why females are the ones that’s below the males
It is the curse God gave to womankind when Eve disobeyed Him.

“To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband’s power, and he shall have dominion over thee.”–Genesis 3:16

One can say such disorder that entered the relationship at the fall. The “dominion” part…that is.

*Not *his being the Husband and Head.

Just as the effects of the fall - disordered other good created aspects of human life.

Read St. Paul on the fact that Marriage reflects - Christ and the Church (such is not disordered).

Probably the same reason that Mary is Queen of the Heavens and Universe.
because she is sinless + gave birth to Jesus?

having periods isn’t enough punishment!? 😛
At Catholic Answers, Fr. Ray Ryland contributes his opinion:

God bestows headship on the husband in order to bring the husband up, so to speak, to a position of full equality with his wife on the natural, human level. The wife is called by God to share in bestowing headship on her husband. She does this by lovingly consenting to her husband’s filling that role. She does this by helping him in every way she can to carry on his service of headship. Then, when they are truly equal on the natural level, they become capable of that complementarity that enables them to become one on the deepest level.

thanks for that link, really, but it’s still an opinion of a man. and an extremely rare one too. almost nobody in any religion thinks women are naturally superior to men, so it just seems like someone trying to not offend women (unless you count feminism as a religion)

not trying to be snarky or to hijack the thread, i really want to understand. i don’t think there’s any equality between the sexes, but it’s not women>men?

perhaps the guys here can give practical examples, i am sure it would be helpful to a lot of people
