Who wants to get in on it?

I’m posting this due to the previous thread “catholic musicians”.

I’m interested in making an online collaboration of Catholic musicians. I know we have drummers, wind instruments, guitar, keys.

I think we can make something good from this.

If everyone has the MS sound recorder it’s as simple as hooking a mic to your CPU and recording. Then you will need the software to convert wav’s to MP3’s.
We can e-mail music clips back and forth and make something nice.

Who wants to contribute?

The only thing I request is that we take our time, this should be for fun and to bring Catholics together.

Let’s offer it to God-

Please feel free to PM or send me an e-mail to start this thing going.

Any ideas, thoughts? Negative thoughts are welcome also.

Once there are enough people interested we can start moving. That won’t take long…some of the finest music ever made has been from three man bands…

Let me add that if you don’t feel that it is appropriate to associate the collabo with this board or religion feel free to PM me anyway.
We can work something out.

Is this for liturgical or general music?

I’ve started writing a Mass, but I’m pretty much a novice at it…
with the new translation about to come out, I am shifting gears, but here are some selections from it…
Mass in G

I’m thinking music in general.

You are writing a MAss and that’s way advanced than what I am thinking. I give you credit though, that looks good. Good Luck!

I was just counting on several different people adding musical parts and someone making them into a nice song-just simple-a part added-a person taking that part, adding to it, creating a new part-then a new person adding to that…

Might sound simple but I know it wouldn’t be. I just wanted it dedicated to God or whatever you want it dedicated to-just something spiritual an individual can do.

It may sound advanced, but I’ve never written anything before, just sung in a lot of choirs. Also, I play at the flute. 🙂
I’ve suscribed, so I can listen in.

This is where I’m at.

I would like to play the rhythm guitar part. I have not decided on the chord progression but I am thinking of more minor chords. I would like it to be a sort of sad but good feeling song.

I am also not the decision maker, it would be the group as a whole.

Please (name removed by moderator)ut any guitar chord progressions that you know and enjoy-I’ll play them and then come up with strum patterns and see if we have something to mix. I have heard guitar and flute before and I know it’s a good combo-then we add lyrics…

I’m open to any thoughts, ideas suggestions. I am in no way running this thing, I’m only an active participant. I’ll get back to you later on what chord progressions I am currently thinking of. I just need a few days to work on some.

jimmytoes I hope you would provide some flute if I send you some guitar samples.
We also have Katerina Therese on board to provide lyrics!

This is turing out good. I should have something together late tonight.
jimmy please let us know if you are willing to add

Thanks-
Joe

From the PM… Thought I’d post it in case any Mac users out there have ideas on sound recording software…
I have no clue about Macs. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. No problem. I use MS office and it has a built in sound recorder.-the quality is not great but it does the job.
Yeah, I used to use the sound recorder when I had a job and a Win laptop to bring home. 😦 The only thing I can find is the audio portion of iMovie, which may work, but I’ll have to play with it.

I can, however, play whatever you send me, so while I try to figure out what I can do on this end, go for it.
👍

I’ve written a few songs, nothing I ever really finished or was too happy with. Here’s the link to my soundclick page. soundclick.com/bands/3/nephilim.htm
You can sign up as a listener, takes a few minutes, no strings attached. hehe, pun. 😃

The songs are not that great, & my voice was very nasty the day I recorded What She Said. Keep in mind that these were recorded with a Tascam 4 track & converted on my PC to MP3.

I had recorded my rendition of Peter Rubalcava’s AVE MARIA, but was not happy with how it sounded so I took it off my page. I might record it again someday. Peter’s a good friend of mine, you music ministers might of heard of him.

I don’t really know anything about Mac (I’ve got Windows), but maybe if you did a search on your computer? I don’t know how Mac is set up, but in Windows there is a “find” option and you can search the whole computer for “sound recorder” or something like that. Like I said, I don’t really know, but that’s my first thought.

Ya know, Duhhhhh, I didn’t even think about “Find” :banghead: All I searched were the Help files.
Thanks KT.

I did find a sample Java application, but it is error prone. I know I had a sound recorder a few versions of the OS back, I’ll have to try a few more searches.

I play all “rock band” instruments (drum, git, bass and sing). I also write (I’ve written a full album, music for a Mass). So, I’d like in. I arrange, edit etc. I got a pretty good program here that I can try out. I was thinking lately of recording the Rosary with 10 different interpretations of Hail Mary. They can be previously written or original composition.

DJ,
I didn’t have to sign-up or anything, just click, click…
Your voice didn’t sound “Nasty” at all. Having been there, I could feel your pain… The story was kinda short and to the point. 😉

I’ve been singing for years (church, weddings, funeral, etc.) & I have never been able to stand the sound of my own voice. My guitar playing isn’t as good as I wish it was.

I thought your clips sounded fine Albert. The ability to sing at the same time as playing the guitar is not easy.

Great pop voice Al! Nice job on the song.

Compact… I can download your guitar blues to my itunes but then to use my garage band or sound studio it doen’t work.

I’ll have to ask my husband if he has any ideas.

Jen
