is there anybody on this site that are musicians? i play piano and im starting to compose songs. its cool, but by yourself is not so fun. so um, it would be fun hearing of other people that write music!!

I play the guitar and sing. I have written TONS of lyrics, however, my musci theory is severly lacking, so I don’t have much music to go with my lyrics. Something I truly intend to rectify in the future!

yeah, my music theory is down to zero. lol. in the thingy about myself, i wrote that i was a farmer in training, but nooooo, the more i play music, the more i want to study to become an accomplished musician!! yeah!

I play percussion and piano/keyboards (although piano and keyboards are technically part of percussion). I’m decent, thought not extremely good. I do like to write music and lyrics, and I definitely like to sing!

I think we have a band!

I have been playing guitar for over two years now but I am not very successful. I also have a synthesizer and have dabbled in Harmonica. I do not write lyrics but I love to strum chord progressions, I’m not great at soloing. I’m interested if you are in putting something together.
We all sound like we are more beginners than accomplished musicians so this could turn out to be something good.

Let’s talk more!

Piano for me, although I’m not too good (I’ve never had lessons except for when my mom taught me how to read treble clef and the lengths of the notes). I love to sing! I’ve attempted to write songs before but I’m not too good with coming up with the music, either.

I play the Irish tin whistle and Irish bodhran (Irish drum)and I sing as well…I have a messageboard dedicated to those who like to play or listen to Irish music (traditional or modern) and there is a section called ‘Kerry’s Pub’ where we post samples of our playing. It’s really fun…we would actually take each other’s recording and our part to it to make a song!

Here is the link for my messageboard Jigs n’ Reels

And here is a sample of our playing. The song is called Silver Strand and it is actually an instrumental written by the Corrs, my favorite band. I play the whistle and bodhran and a friend of mine I met on the messageboard plays the violin. My drum playing is a little off because I am a beginner!!

I play the piano, guitar & clarinet. I’ve never been any good at writing music, though, cause I can’t read it! I play everything by ear.

I’m a professional church musician… piano and organ primarily. Does that help?

I’m an organist, too! But I will never, ever touch a piano in a Catholic parish, unless there is no organ present. Thankfully, my boss at the Cathedral here has excellent taste in music and my bosses in the parishes in my hometown (yay for the circuit-riding organist) are so apathetic that they let me pick whatever music I want. Pianos in general are wonderful. But bad at Mass. Bad bad bad bad bad!

We use it for the school mass. I know, I know, but it’s not up to me I would never touch one in a Church under any other circumstances. But I also play in a Lutheran community. That’s more where the piano comes in. Although they’re mostly organ too. I’m a pianist before an organist no matter what though. 15 years of piano experience is hard to let go for the organ! 😃

I LOVE the Corrs! My favorite cd is Forgiven,Not Forgotten. The sound dosen’t work right now on my computer otherwise I would love to hear your music:crying:

played beginner guitar for baptist church for 3 yrs & the mtn. dulcimer for 1 as prayer music (sweet), can’t sing but have been learning banjo for @ 1.5 yrs – 😉

all prior to becoming catholic- not good enough for my parish:D

I would love to play the guitar for church. I had contacted them and told them I was a beginner, no one ever called me back. My church uses the organ, a piano and a flute. I would love to see a guitar up there, no soloing, just rhythm.

Our church has both the traditional organ/piano stuff and the guitar stuff. In fact, the group I play guitar with for church has 4 guitars, 1 piano, 1 keyboard, 1 drummer, 1 bass, several singers. I also dabble in the percussion stuff when we need that. I use the conga on occassion, the egg shaker, the afuche. I’M MULTITALENTED!!!
