Does anyone know of a good online Catholic college or university?
 
Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio
University of Dalls has online courses and I believe degrees. Beyond that I don’t know. But I want to do the Graduate program for Theological Studies at FU.
 
For graduate studies there’s the Augustine Institute. They are wonderful. I would recommend Steubenville as well
 
Howdy all,

I’m looking for institutions that offer an online bachelor’s degree completion program. So far, all I’ve found is CDU. If anyone is aware of other programs or has anything to say about CDU, please let me know.
 
I’m assuming “test” isn’t an acronym for a Catholic university 😛

As for CDU, it claims to be very orthodox-minded and I see no reason, based on their website, to disbelieve them.
 
Anyone know of a place to get either online or distance or extremely short residency doctoral degrees? My husband and I have MA degrees, but we would like to continue our educations. We live in Japan, though. English-speaking universities are rare, and my husband has a job he cannot leave; I stay home with our five children, homeschooling them. Moving would be tough.

A doctoral degree in what field?

In some fields, I think it is possible for someone with a Master’s to complete a doctoral degree in 2 years, if they have a research topic selected before starting, and they follow their plan to the letter without getting sidetracked. (2 years might sound like a lot, but it is extremely short compared to the 6+ years that it takes for many!) One problem is that schools will generally impose a “residence requirement” that defines the minimum amount of time that the degree will take to complete. (Mine is 3 years.) You will probably be able to find the graduate policy manuals of your prospective schools on the web, and these will give you the residence requirements.

I am a little skeptical of claims that a doctoral degree can be completed extremely quickly, because the point of the doctoral degree is to prepare you to function as an academic, and it takes a while to absorb the culture of academia and the accepted way of doing things in an academic setting.
 
Well, I would prefer something in my field from my Master’s: Shakespeare. On the other hand, I could definitely go with something in Medieval history, say the Crusades or even the Templars. My husband would like Medieval history as well. It is not so much the length of time involved in getting the degree. It is the length of residency required. We live in Japan. 🤷
