Catholic or Christian?

It has been brought to my attention by one of the bretheren that I have decieved my Catholic brothers and sisters. To that I appoligize to all Catholics on this board. I have never since day one tried to decieve anyone. I have spoken truth. I posted when I first came on this board that I was a christian.I am not here to convert anyone for only the Holy Spirit can do that. I am here to fellowship and share Gods love to those I talk to. Im sorry that there are those that do not want me on this board for I am not in full union with the RCC, Thanks for hearing me out. 😦
 
If you are wondering if Catholics are Christians just look inside any Catholic Church and look up behind the alter. There will be a large crucifix with Our Lord Jesus on the cross. If Catholics are not Christians then why is Jesus there ?

You do not see the same crucifix in Protestant Churches.

There is no question in my mind that catholics are christian. I believe the problem is mutual. Many protestants think catholics are not christian and many catholics believe we are not christian because we are not catholic. :confused:

I don’t think many Catholics regard Protestants as non-Christians. The opposite may in fact be true. Just look at the poll on the Protestants as Brethren thread to see what I mean. Even official Vatican documents call Protestants as “separated” brethren.

I don’t know what you were accused of being deceptive about.

You are always welcome here. Anyone is welcome, and you seem like an honest person to me.

Catholics definitly consider the protestants to be Christians.
 
If a Catholic says a protestant is not Christian then that Catholic doesn’t know the church teaching and therefore is neither a good Catholic nor a good christian.

I apologize for any who made you feel unwelcome here just because you are not Catholic, you will find ignorant people in every denomination.
 
Definition - Christian: A person who is baptized.

All Christians, however, do not have all of Divine Revelation. Only the Catholic Church, founded by Christ, has the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Protestants have some portion of the Truth, but not all of it.

The claim made was that I was an imposter,letting people think that I was Catholic where in reality Im a non -catholic. A wolf in sheeps clothing. :eek:

I never got that impression. I have realized that you were not a Catholic since I first saw your posts. You have always been polite and you will always be welcome on the forums.

I think you will be pretty hard pressed to find a Catholic who does thinks that non-Catholics are not Christian. It is usually the other way around. Catholics are called pagan, followers of the anti-Christ (the Pope), Harlots of the Whore of Babylon (the Catholic Church), etc… Are there some who believe this, sure. But the Pope has been very explicit in pointing out that there is the seed of truth in EVERY religion, and to not throw the baby out with the bath water. He also says that our separated bretheren (non-Catholic Christians) are to be treated as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sorry Jay, but I dont take great pride in telling anyone that I am an ex-catholic. To be truthful my heart is saddend. There is still alot of healing of the hurts the church has caused me.Everyday im being purged and refined because God knows my heart. Our God is a loving and Healing Savior. I thank Him for rescuing me . 🙂

The Church is the body of Christ (Col 1:15-18, 1:24, 2:19; Eph 1:22-23, 4:4-7, 4:11-16; Romans 12:4-5; 1 Cor 6:1, 12:27, et al.; the Bride of Christ, Eph 5:25-33; 2 Cor 11:2; Rev 21:9-14; Rev 22-17; “the household of God, the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth,” 1 Tim 3:15; the Church is “holy and without blemish” Eph 5:27. And the NT has many other similies for the Church.

However, people are weak and sinful and do things which can hurt us. Some of them are members of the Church, but they are not the Church.

You were not hurt by the Church but by member(s) of the Church. Judas was a member of the Church, but Jesus didn’t abandon it and start another one because Judas betrayed Him. People are weak and sinful and do things which can hurt us. That’s no reason to leave the Church, the pillar and foundation of the Truth. You accept her book – the New Testament – but reject the author. The Church was the agent of God in producing the NT and the Bible.

:confused: You know that the Holy Spirit isn’t some spooky, creepy mysterious force, right? Its not like the Vulcan Mindmeld.
 
It is possible that SpokenWord had negative (or worse) experiences due to failure of shepherds to do their job.

I think the key SpokenWord is to remember that the truth of God and His Church is not relative to our experiences. However, I would wonder if our relationship with the Church is not absolute in the case of serious problems.

1 Cor 5:11 But I now write to you not to associate with anyone named a brother, if he is immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunkard, or a robber, not even to eat with such a person.

I myself was compelled to leave my local Parish in search of a parish where there is no VOTF and other dissent.

I have heard of issues in seminaries (Goodbye Good Men).

I suggest you find a parish that is faithful to the Magisterium.
