We have a local FM Catholic radio station that has EWTN radio programs. Half the time I don’t get a good signal on my radios and can’t listen to the station. I have high speed internet and listen to it on my computer. I would like to listen to it in my kitchen, bedroom, etc. Is there a device (wireless?) that will connect to my computer and enable me to listen in other rooms?
Thanks for any help,

KarenLynn

I’ve not hear of anything specifically for computers. (Unless you have a lap top with a wireless network card like I do,) but there are speaker systems that are wireless. I don’t know how much they cost or how far they can send the signal.

Yes, there is now such a device! It’s from Apple Computer and it’s called Airport Express. It works with both Macs and Windows-based machines and can double as a wireless base-station, so that’s not so bad. Assuming you have an 802.11b or 802.11g card in your machine, it should work just fine. apple.com/airportexpress/ It says that it’s limited to iTunes audio, but there are a number of ways to work around it. I don’t own one so I’ve never tried it, but I’d talk to a tech-savvy friend of yours and see what he or she might suggest.

I had another brainstorm, so look out (usually these are dangerous). If you already have a wireless network, you could acquire a notebook computer w/speakers and a wireless card.

You could carry this rig around your dwelling and listen anywhere the wireless signal is sufficient. I think you could use a relatively modest computer for this purpose, as long is it is configured correctly. Hope this helps also.

Another option is to use one of the wireless “baby monitors”. Just place the transmitter as close as possible to the computer speaker and then carry the receiver with you.Pat

Back a number of years ago when I had a DVD drive in my computer but did not have a DVD player, I used a product from X10 to send the signal from my computer to my TV in another room. Worked great!

This company has a number of solutions that might work for you. Go to this link and look around. Take your time and read carefully.
