I am trying to bring Catholic oriented radio programming to my region. Presently there is only Evangelical Protestant programming being aired on our local “Christian” radio stations.
This endeavor seems to be becomming greatly daunting.
I haven’t a clue as to how to persue this. I have created a webpage to promote this apostolate, please take a look at in and tell me what ya think.

I can surely use all the help I can get as I try to bring Catholic radio to a predominately Catholic region. Its hard to understand what the resistance is about, but once you experience it, then it becomes more understandable to know what kinds of motivations are behind Catholics opposing anything that will teach the public about what the Church really teaches.

I hope to hear from you all.

Thom, first of all where are you?
Here in Cleveland, we have no Catholic Radio either. There is Akron and Canton but their signals are weak.
I listen to everything through the Internet.

Hi Kecharitomene,
You may not want to go this direction but have you considered Sirius radio? It is satellite radio and there is a monthly fee (under $10 a month I believe) but it carries EWTN radio. I know that for me, I had to have it. I used to live in Wisconsin and we had Catholic radio there but then I moved to the Nashville (Tennessee) area and they don’t have anything Catholic on the airways. One of the first things I did was get satellite radio. I love it and enjoy the knowledge that where ever I drive, I can always take EWTN with me!🙂

The equipment (radio and automobile kit) are SUPER easy to install and will run ya 'bout $130-$150. Then it’s just the monthly subscription.

Oh… and did I mention that I now never have to miss a Packer game either? :dancing:

Been thinking of getting Sirius here. Although we do have a Catholic Radio, it goes off at sunset. Plus they pre-empt many ETWN shows.

I was interested in the same thing, I contacted EWTN and they sent me very good information on this. It is a great thing to do, but it really needs some financial backing to do this. I live in Southern California, there is no Catholic Radio here. Which is amazing seeing as how we have two huge metropolitan areas here. California is a pretty liberal state, but this is a sad thing for me anyways. Sirius seems to be the answer at the moment, but I still dream of Catholic radio here.

You might consider contacting all the Catholic Churches in your area and asking for their prayers and support, especially those churches that have perpetual adoration.

Contact other Catholic radio stations and ask how they got started. We have a great one in Portland and they have a website – kbvm.com. Send them an e-mail and I bet they’d be glad to help you!

I listen to this at work almost every day. I don’t get it on the radio so I listen in via internet.

We don’t have Catholic radio in Melbourne so I listen to Catholic Answers and EWTN via the computer. I just love The Journey Home from EWTN. The fervour of the converts really lifts my spirits considering that so many so called Catholics spend most of their time trying to do away with everything distinctively Catholic and create a sort of ‘one size fits all’ Christianity.

Yeap. I listened to Relevant Radio as well via the internet. You can also listen to EWTN live via the web at EWTN. That link will open up your Windows Media player automatically. If your using a computer that doesn’t have that installed you can go to the EWTN Website and select RADIO and choose a different program to play the live broadcast.

We had a Rep. from Catholic Radio talk to us after Communion one Sunday. He said they are always looking for new markets. He was asking for financial support. That is the only problem that stops then entering a new area. The Catholic stations have a close working relationship with eachother. Phone or write the closest Catholic station to your area and talk to their managment. They will explain what they need to establish one in your area. There are a lot of spots available that have to find programing or give up their FCC status.

God bless, Catholic Radio needs to be in many more markets.
