I enjoy listening to music and recently I have been noticing a lot of references to Catholicism and religion etc. and I was just referencing if they would be seen as offensive:
“Hanging out by the state line
Turning holy water into wine
Drinkin’ it down, oh, oh-oh, ow”
  • Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol
“Forty days and forty nights
I waited for a girl like you to come and save my life”
  • Out of my League by Fitz and the Tantrumz

OP, as much as I love to discuss popular music, I suspect you have a scrupulosity condition based on your last three threads about buying a Halloween costume and now posting about trivial song lyrics.

Please discuss with your priest. The forum discourages us from discussing issues of sin with the scrupulous as it may worsen their condition; they should be speaking to a priest.

I’ll take your word for it. I’m not inclined to go snooping through someone’s previous threads. I’ve never heard the term ‘bearself’. But…maybe this person just needs a listening ear. That’s not necessarily scrupolosity. Il’l just leave it at that. God bless.

Nowadays, you can find someone who takes offense at literally anything you can think of.

Whether you, personally, get offended is entirely up to you. I recommend against it. There’s no reason to be offended by song lyrics. Don’t let those types of emotions (feeling offense) pollute your mind.

You have control over your thoughts and emotions. Exercise dominion over your own self, and choose to view the world through a lens of charity and tolerance.
