I used to be liberal, left-leaning, pro-choice, and agnostic.

I grew up.

Now I am a pro-life Catholic center-right Republican.

I cannot vote for a candidate who supports pro-abort policies.
I cannot vote for a candidate that wants to raise my taxes.
I cannot vote for a candidate who appeases terrorists.
I cannot vote for a candidate who is supported by lawsuit lawyers.
I cannot vote for a candidate who frowns on the 2nd amendment.
I cannot vote for a candidate who is supported by public employee unions

These are my…non-negotiables.

I’d love to see who can measure up to it, sadly a lot probably won’t. But I’ll keep looking for candidates who do!!!:clapping:

In principle, I don’t believe in voting party, but at this point I always vote republican because the official position of the democratic party is pro-choice. I cannot vote for a pro-choice candidate. To me, abortion is a more important issue than, say, the economy (yes, that statement was a dig at a certain other member of this forum).

I’ve often had the same thought. I prefer to view those who espouse the CURRENT views (not the traditional mores of the Democrat(ic) party of old) of the Democrat(ic) party as “needing to grow up.” For the life of me, I can’t understand how a mature, adult individual, to say nothing of being Catholic, could possibly hold those views. Guess that says loads about guys like Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy. After all, they’re adult, but…

There is a story about two boys robbing a farm. The farmer caught them and tied them up. He dragged one into the barn, pulled down his pants, held up a bunch of grapes and said, “You were stealing grapes” and began to shove grapes you-know-where.

The boy began to laugh. The farmer said, “Doesn’t this hurt?”

The boy said, “Yeah, but the other guy was stealing watermelons.”
