In what ways can I help Catholic schools? I read that many of them are closing, and the problem is being exacerbated by the pandemic.

If you are talking about diocesan schools, very little short of establishing a hefty foundation beyond the bishop’s reach to keep a particular school running. As you said, another massive round of school (and parish) closings is in the offing due to a shortage of students, and much more importantly, cash. Trying to stop it is like trying to hold back the tide.

No money, no honey. Them’s the rules.

And we’re not talking about nickels and dimes. If you don’t have millions to give, and a crafty lawyer to come up with a funding strategy, then anything you give is likely to be wasted or plundered.

It would be wiser to find another cause with higher chances of success, like private schools.

If you find a specific school that is struggling, you could hold a fundraiser for that school, or try crowdsourcing, or donate your own money, or encourage parents to enroll. You could volunteer & help them make advertisements (brochures, etc.) to distribute at local parishes.

Or public schools and universities, which are also struggling due to budget cuts in the wake of the pandemic.

Catholic schools and churches are closing. All seem to be the effects of modernism. Return to the TLM and teach strong catechesis and Latin in schools and they will be thriving. However, that is not happening anytime soon because we have avoided the message at Fatima by the Blessed Virgin Mary. She has come with an abundance of love and mercy, but for many, she has been rejected. So we will suffer exactly what she said if we don’t listen to her. This is all playing out; if only Catholics would wake up.
