Do you really think a comparable set of arguments cannot be presented to critique the Republican planks you proposed?

Why not?

Tax cuts as Republicans envision them are a violation of justice and the common good.

There are others, but the point is that Democrats and Republicans can both be portrayed as violating Catholic principles. Much of those portrayals is based on misrepresentations, like saying Democrats promote abortion or Republicans oppose the common good.

, “You know I don’t take the Bible literally…our Theology teacher even said that Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah - the Catholic Church doesn’t believe those stories actually occurred.”
Yes this shows the massive problem we are facing

This change is what your son and his teacher are talking about. The emphasis has shifted from the truth of a story’s content, to the message of the author. How well that is expressed by teacher or student varies greatly.
I don’t know. I’m not sure if the child could misunderstand a line like that.

I think it is the same as a lot of Catholics believe

I don’t think you can provide a comparable set of arguments to critique the Republican planks vis a vis Catholic Doctrine.

But, I would welcome your attempt to do so.

What has changed is there have been more teachers in recent decades who follow popular secular trends and are too cowardly to believe in and teach the Catholic faith.

Folks, partisan politics do not belong in the Sacred Scripture forum.

Take it to World News.
