I’ve heard it claimed that Catholic schools tend to be much more willing to hire teaching candidates who are not certified by the state - who, for example, may simply have an undergraduate degree in the area in which they plan to teach. To anyone who has experience with this sort of thing, do this claim match reality?

The required credentials for private school teachers vary by state.

Some states require private school teachers have the same credentials as public school teachers, others do not. Most do not.

In places that do not, it’s hard to say what criteria schools use because it’s up to the local school.

I don’t think you can generalize.
