Something I have noticed here lately is that a lot of tv shows and movies give their characters religious ideals. Many times without our right stating it. So, I figured for fun people could list some of their favorite fictional Catholics on a post.

I will start:

Wolverine is a lapsed Catholic. If you go back to the old cartoons in the 90’s (the episode where they meat Nightcrawler) he goes to a Catholic Church in France to pray.

Nightcrawler is a very devout Catholic in almost every version he appears.

Elliot Stabler and Dominic Carisi, Jr in Law and Order SVU

Father Mulcahy on M* A* S* H , for TV

As for movies, there are a lot of great movie priests and sisters. I enjoyed Rosalind Russell as the Mother Superior and the other actresses who played her nuns, in “The Trouble with Angels” and “Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows”

Don’t forget Father Chuck O’Malley in The Bells of Saint Mary’s.

Charlie from the show Lost. He was raised Catholic. Mr Eko on Lost was a Catholic priest, too.

Forensic specialist Abby Sciuto on “NCIS” is Catholic… despite her Goth persona, she not only attends Mass but also belongs to a bowling team made up of nuns. This was alluded to more often in the earlier seasons, not so much now.

And the McAllister family in “Home Alone”. There is a scene where Kevin makes the sign of the cross and says grace before eating his microwave meal prior to unleashing mayhem on Marv and Harry.

I’m not sure if Captain America is Catholic, but in the first Avengers, he says (after Black Widow tells him Loki and Thor are “basically gods”): “There’s only one God, ma’am, and I’m pretty sure He doesn’t dress like that.”
