I always enjoyed folklore stories of creatures like the mothman, Sasquatch, Champ, and sometimes alien and ghost stories. However, I have been wondering lately if it is in-Catholic of me to take interest into such things. As Catholics, should we not believe in such things? I have a feeling the line can be drawn as a certain point as the theory that something May be lurking in the water and/or forests never seemed foreign to me because both are so vast.

If it’s investigation, speculation, or just entertainment, that’s fine.

I assume you aren’t combining it with something else that is immoral, like fraud or communicating with spirits.

I don’t see where it has anything to do with being Catholic. We don’t know everything about the universe, and there’s nothing wrong with speculating about what’s out there.

Including UFOs; but if you go to Roswell, go with a thorough understanding and use of critical thinking.

Never never, just fascinated with the idea of undiscovered creatures.

It’s entirely possible that there are aliens somewhere, or a Sasquatch, or a natural/ scienific explanation for various phenomena.

As long as your interest in these things is purely for scientific interest or for entertainment, and is not leading you to reject Church teachings or violate the commandments (for example, you’re interested in ghosts so you start trying to call up the dead) then it’s not a problem.
