Catholicism and Paganism

I was speaking with a friend of mine, who was telling me a story of how her grandmother healed her of an evil eye…

She said her grandma took a crystal and rubbed along her forehead, arms, and legs, while praying in Spanish, and did the same with an egg afterwards. She cracked the egg and put it in a cup, and said the eye floated to the top

She also says her grandma was healed through her faith and a curandero and some healing tree after some sort of spell by an aunt who practices witchcraft.

Am I missing something, or is this a serious blurring of the lines between Catholicism and Paganism?

Um, I don’t see anything Catholic at all about that. That’s not just blurring the lines in my opinion - it is paganism.

I would stay away from that stuff.

Those were my thoughts, too. But she says the Rosary and such, and I was just wondering if I’m missing something.

Short answer: no matter if the person considers themselves a good Catholic or not, such superstitious and pagan activity is forbidden by the Church, and has no place in Catholicism.
