If this is the wrong sub-forum for this would one of the moderators kindly movie it to the correct one. I did a search and found nothing similar and so I decided to open it here.

Last evening I was talking with some of my seminarian brothers and I began to realize how many of us are eagle scouts and for how many this has been an integral part of our vocation in the Church.

I began to wonder if there was a potential here that is not being tapped; men who are both loyal eagle scouts and members of a parish and if there was some way to highlight this and use this for some good.

I immediately thought there should be an award of sorts offered by the Catholic Committee on Scouting for men who are active in their parish communities irregardless of their current scouting affiliation.

however, before I think any more about this I would like to ask several questions from this group. First, does anyone know of any group that was for both Catholics and Eagle scouts (a troop patrol, local honor society, diocesan club, etc). And if so if they could provide me with any information.

Second, does anyone think there would be interest in an award for scouts and former scouts that are eagles to encourage activity in their parish communities. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

thanks for the info but one of the seminarians had already mentioned that. What we were thinking was along similar lines but it would not require people to be active with youth as the St. George award is. This one would be very general, simply for dedication and significant service to the parish. There is a good deal of overlap however.
