How dare those protestants bash the beliefs of others!

Everybody here knows that protestantism was inspired by the devil.
This from someone who just called nearly everyone in this thread a liar. Please, please be nice and things will work out much better on the forum. Thank you!šŸ‘

Nevermind. Thanks, everyone, for quoting me just so you could dodge the point.

Are you sure it was Southern Baptist and not American Baptist? They are much more moderate/liberal (I mean ā€œmoderate to liberal,ā€ not that moderates and liberals are the same!).

Edwin
No it was Southern Baptist but It must have been because of where I live.
I live in a very wealthy area which happens to be very liberal and it just rubs off on people.😦

I can believe it. Here in the south where I am, there is one Catholic Church per city and a Southern Baptist Church on every corner. When we go to the northeast to visit the inlaws, there may be one Southern Baptist Church per city and a Catholic Church on every corner.

My husband never heard anything bad about Catholics when he was growing up, but down here there is a lot of misinformation going around.

And as for the OP: I wish CATHOLICS would take the time to learn what the Church teaches. The other day I told a self-proclaimed cafeteria Catholic that I had never known anybody who took the time to learn WHY the Church teaches as she does on the life issues who did not at least soften on the subject, if not completely turn around in favor of it.
You called? This sounds exactly like I was. I finally got tired of listening to the uninformed and did the research myself. You know, crow in humble pie actually tastes yummy when served up by Pope John Paul the Great!

Keep praying for her. It will do wonders. I have no idea who the ā€œmercygateā€ was in my own life, but I thank God every day for him or her.

Great to hear that! It helps to know that all may not be entirely in vain.

I only wish non-Catholic Christians would take some time to study Church History and put some effort into understanding what Catholicism is and, more importantly, what it is not.

If people approach the subject with an open mind and some intellectual honesty, many will come away with a better understanding. Don’t let some pastor pre-digest these things and spoon feed you his interpretation. (He probably was spoon fed a pre-digested interpretation by someone else.)
While I totally agree with this wish, I don’t know that many have a reason to move out of their comfort zone. My experience is similar to that of mercygate. We always encounter, ā€œMy mind is made up. Don’t confuse me with facts.ā€

I find it ironic that Catholics are often accused of ā€œletting the Vatican think for you,ā€ when Catholics are encouraged to delve deep and ask the tough questions. The only real caution presented to Catholics by the Church is to not rely on our own personal interpretations. Scripture cautions against it too so what is the problem?

I find it amusing that those with itching ears, often use the ā€œGod put that there for meā€ mindset as they use violence to take it. 🤷
Ah, what a painful truth for me to have to hear. It never ceases to boggle my mind how some folks will use false witness and even downright theft and violence to wield influence and with that influence they will deceive folks into joining their private little churches and with that membership, they will wield even more influence.

I pray that God protects me and my family from this.
