Greetings All.

As some of you may be aware, left-leaning “Catholicism” is pushing quite hard now in Germany (big surprise). I attended my first Catholic Mass this past Sunday, and after the service I was approached by people pushing to reform the priesthood and allow for the ordination of women. Yeah…

Therefore, does anybody here have a tip on how I might find a traditional/conservative Catholic congregation in the Hamburg area ??

Much thanks 🙂

Personally I wouldn’t change my church just because some people were pushing for these changes, or any changes… even if it seemed like all the people were pushing for these changes. If I was asked to join in, I’d decline and say I trust the church to make the correct decision. Basically just ignore it. People always have different views about pretty much everything.

Even if the priest allows such an initiative to take place ?

As I said, I’ve only been to one Mass… ever. I think that being met by liberal Catholics who are pushing for woman priests says a lot about where this congregations is at.

Absolutely not. This would be a breakaway church.
That’s my concern. There are “Free Catholic” churches in Germany which masquerade as Catholic, but deny the Papacy, and push for such social justice issues as female and homosexual priests.

Hence my original question…

Contact the diocese to find out which churches are in their jurisdiction.

Given that the Archbishop and Bishop of Hamburg are both advocating for a change in the church’s teaching on homosexuality, I doubt that that’s the best option.

Once again, there is a reason I brought my question to this forum. If anyone knows of any alternative ways to find a traditional/conservative congregation in Hamburg, I would sincerely appreciate that.

Regardless of what they’re advocating for, I personally wouldn’t let that distract me. If they’re still part of the church, they still have valid sacraments and that’s what I’d be interested in, rather than looking for something beyond… but that’s just me 🙂
