Catholicism in Sports

Hi all! Would a Catholic be harming their relationship with God by rooting for a sports team where their ownership supports evils such as abortion and genocide? I recall during the Obergefell v Hodges case, that when the US courts legalized gay marriage certain teams such as the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Lightning, and others signed an Amicus brief noting their support for gay marriage. After the case, certain teams (basically all the San Francisco teams) changed their sports logos on social media to a rainbow colorized version showing their support. Would rooting for a team (even if the fan were unaware initially of a team’s support) be sinful in any way?

I do want to make the distinction between vocally supporting an evil and funding it (team funding Planned Parenthood as the Seattle WNBA team has done).

I think funding and supporting is the line … rooting for/ going to a game of that WNBA team would be immoral, while supporting the Pats, IMO, would not be

You are not responsible for what other people do with the money you give them in a morally licit transaction. And you’re certainly not blameworthy for rooting for a team that sometimes advocates for morally questionable causes.
