I just wanted to make a brief comment. Its my first post in some time and firstly may our Lord and Savior Jesus bless everyone. As a Catholic I just wanted to say that Catholics and Muslims are brothers and must continue to work together. I have always admired the Christian Knight Godfrey of Bouillon…one of the leaders of what later became known as the First Crusade. Godfrey was a beautiful man, a man of God. Godfrey also was pious and upright as shown by the 20th century French historian Rene Grousset in The Epic of The Crusades
Godfrey was also a man that was admired by Muslims. As Grousset shows Godfrey meant with Muslims befriending them. Further there is the 12th century historian Ibn Jubair whom had the chance to visit The Catholic Kingdom of Jerusalem of which Godfrey first presided over not as King(as he knew only Jesus was the King of Jerusalem) but as The Defender of The Holy Sepulchre . Jubair reported what he saw, and he saw Muslims being treated equally and with justice by the Catholic Rulers. It was a time of friendship and I will always admire the legacy of the Catholic Kingdom of Jerusalem for its greatness for honoring God but also for its tolerance. Its a lesson I keep in mind for today, that while our Catholic history has its dark spots that yes our Catholic ancestors also did great things. And the lesson from the likes of Godfrey is one of being a good person and being welcoming of others. Thats Catholic living for me, carrying on as a Knight standing for what is right…helping the poor, building hospitals and helping all people Catholic or non Catholic.
