Are you a big fan of the Templars too?
That depends. How are you considering the Templars? The Templars from a certain game, or the Templars from History, and if from History, what part of them are you asking about, or are you just asking if I like them overall? Or is this about a book?

overall it’s a good thing that powerful, secret, and militant religious societies don’t exist anymore (or are relegated to a bunch of old men quibbling about the moral decay of society over a few beers at the lodge).

I wouldn’t outright say their aren’t any left, I am sure their might be at least 1 or 2. Doesn’t really bother me, as long as they do not try to destroy any freedoms in America I believe in, and then it bothers me.

the obvious problem with Christianity and Islam (and to a lesser extent Judaism) is they preach if you lack faith in their unseen god then you’re a heretic destined for perdition (unless of course you change your mind & buy into their religion). Even the seven Noahide laws of Judaism (that according to them apply to the gentiles) require faith in the Abrahamic god.

There are, however, religious folks who have moved past this harsh worldview (i.e. Unitarian Universalists), who do respect the rights and dignity of others who disagree with them. It seems to me they’re more in line with the spirit of Christ’s message than anyone else. If I were to be religious I suppose I would be a UU (they even allow in non-believers).

Cmon man, Christianity respects the rights and dignity of others, you know this. Even God respects your free will or else He could’ve struck you dead long ago and let your final destination be as it may.
Christianity has a different perspective on what happens after death then you, and this is the crux of what you object to in your first paragraph. You are more then free to live your life as you are. (You are… aren’t you?) You are free to object to the view that the Church sees is imminent to those that deny God. And you have many times on these boards.

You can’t really say that because you believe that non-believers will go to hell (and it’s your duty to continually try and convince them to believe as you do). You might think this is consistent with respecting the rights and dignity of others … but those “others” don’t agree with you. So herein lies the problem. It seems to me Universalists have resolved this problem quite nicely (at least Unitarian Universalists … since believe it or not there are even variations of Universalism :)).

I can convey the message. Unltimately, you are free to believe or not and, I am to respect that and realize it is not I who convert but God, in His time. 🙂

Brown and his cowardly cohorts wouldn’t dare make a movie like this against Jews or Muslims.

They know that if they made it against Jews the entire Jewish lobby in Washington and Hollywood would fall on them “like a ton of bricks”.

They wouldn’t dare make it against Muslims because they know their theatres would be bombed and they would all end up on death lists.

So once again the Christians, Catholics in particular are attacked. I am certainly not suggesting we bomb their theatres but neither should we take this lying down.

Boycot the film, do not give one cent to them by buying a ticket (no, you do NOT have to see the film in order to counter its lies because lots of websites have disclosed the full plot) and take very opportunity to register your protest and to confront their lies.

From what I read in the book, it wasn’t really anti-catholic, it was more or less showing how one man’s vengeance against the RCC affected so much, but I guess your talking about Dan Brown’s personality? I never read about him, I guess he is a anti-catholic in real life?

isn’t that a testament to how much cooler Catholics are? You guys don’t whine as much, great … I like you more already!

people pick on evangelicals all the time too (you know … dumb red neck jokes & all the like). And of course everyone picks on atheists (we’re everyone’s punching bag).

again … a testament to the coolness of Christians (and I might add atheists). OK maybe I’m thinking mainstream Americans in general. We have thick skin, we can handle getting picked on … but I do see your point at the same time. We’re used to freedom, because WE invented it. Go figure … now we’re complaining about it. I say don’t allow stupid people to dictate how we interact among ourselves. We get picked on … great. Relish in it. Just respond by smiling!

you’re right don’t lie down … stand up and smile 🙂

yeah of course. If you don’t like the film then don’t see it (it would obviously be dumb to see a movie that will just tick you off). I personally like movies that make me laugh
