I cheated and put this thread in two places!
Is that wrong?

Since I was picking at the Protestants I figured I would turn toward my fellow Catholics!

I do not intend to cause ill-feelings…I just am trying to (by the grace of God) to get us to be more faithful.

Catholics!

Do we really love and trust Jesus? Or are we prideful because we are in the One, True Church?

Please take a moment to pray that you (we) grow in faith, hope and love!

Pray this prayer: “Prayer for Charity
or

Is it pride? For me it’s more to do with trust in Jesus’ promises about Peter, about the Apostles and about the Church, and it’s more prideful to ignore those promises, ignore the established channels through which He has chosen to deliver His teaching, and ultimately His salvation (the Church, Pope, Bishops and priests), and strike out in opposition to them.

Not that we can’t all grow in all the virtues, of course, so I’ll happily pray alongside you on that score. :crossrc:

Not not pride here either, more like relief. Like, relief that I was not born in Russia. That type of relief. And of course Catholics love Jesus. The Church is Jesus and Jesus is the Church.

Like all my threads I did not think this one through as much as I should have.

I was just trying to get a feel for if people enjoy being Catholic more than they do being a follower of Christ. I guess that seems almost like a redundant statement.

My main point is to get people to rethink why we push Catholic truth to others. Are we doing it because of the fullness of a loving relationship it helps us find with Christ…or do we like that it is the “True Church” more?

Jesus said “Let your light shine before the world” or something along those lines.

Maybe to those who live in darkness, our light is blinding, and they take our confidence in Christ to be a sign of arrogance and pride.

If all this is NOT about love for Jesus, what’s the point?
